(COLUMBUS)-The Ohio History Connection is hosting the fourth annual Tribal Nations Conference, October 22–October 24 in Columbus.
During the conference the Ohio History Connection will meet with American Indian tribes who have interests and affiliations with Ohio. This conference is an opportunity to share information about programs and services and how they intersect with tribal interests. Attendees will also visit Schoenbrunn Village, an important American Indian site maintained by the Ohio History Connection.
There are over 40 federally-recognized tribes that are connected to Ohio through homelands, historic sites and treaties. Many tribes were forcibly removed from Ohio in the mid-19th century under Indian Removal policies, but their impact on Ohio’s history is significant today and is central to the history of the region.
“This conference gives us the opportunity to connect with our tribal partners from all across the country,” says Burt Logan, Ohio History Connection Executive Director & CEO. “In our educational resources and at our historic sites, it’s vital that we share authentic stories of the people that once resided in this region. These connections allow us to preserve and share this important history with all Ohioans.”

The Ohio History Connection
The Ohio History Connection, formerly the Ohio Historical Society, is a statewide history organization with the mission to spark discovery of Ohio’s stories. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization chartered in 1885, the Ohio History Connection carries out history services for Ohio and its citizens focused on preserving and sharing the state’s history.
