Learn to create your own beautiful floral arrangement as First Lady Lucy Hayes did, during this flower-arranging class. The class is led by Mary Snyder, owner of Mary’s Blossom Shoppe in Port Clinton. First Lady Lucy Hayes loved flowers and creating her own arrangements. She often made the floral centerpieces for state dinners and regularly put together bouquets for friends and family members. To celebrate her birthday, which is Aug. 28, participate in the same activity she loved by learning to make your own beautiful centerpiece to take home with you. Snyder will discuss flowers, floral seasons, the types of blooms Lucy might have used and the art of arranging during this class. Include are use of all tools needed, the container and floral foam, all blooms and greenery. Tickets are available at rbhayes.org. Registration is required by 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, so that all supplies can be ordered and secured for participants.
